The Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 zoom is the world's first ultra wide-angle zoom lens for Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras that features an aperture of f/2.8. Despite its fast f/2.8 aperture, the lens is very small (only 86.2.mm) and is a perfect match to Sony´s compact APS-C mirrorless camera body´s.

Thanks to its versatile focal length users can enjoy a powerful world of ultra wide-angle photography at the 11mm end (the full-frame equivalent of 16.5mm) and at the same time have a lens that is well suited for casual snapshot photography such as street at 20mm focal length (the full-frame equivalent of 30mm). 

The 11-20mm f/2.8 is only 86.2mm in length and weighs just 335g. For a fast-aperture f/2.8 ultra wide-angle zoom lens, this is remarkably compact and light.

Optical construction consists of 12 elements in 10 groups. Two GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements that assure high resolution across the entire image, from edge to edge. One XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and two LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements to produce sharp images with optical aberrations highly corrected.

The lens also also features Tamron famous BBAR-G2 coating that suppresses ghosting and flare to a minimum and helps to boost details of objects even when the subject is backlit. With a combination of all those features the lens produces edge-to-edge sharp image with natural colors and great looking bokeh.

Other exciting optical features of the 11-20mm f/2.8 is a great MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 0.15m at 11mm and 0.24m at 20mm. At the widest 11mm setting it has an astonishing maximum magnification ratio of 1:4!

The lens has a moisture-resistant construction and fluorine coating to ensure use even in the harshest conditions. It is compatible with many of the features that Sony builds into its cameras, including Fast Hybrid AF, Eye AF and features an RXD stepping motor unit that is exceptionally quiet and perfect for video users.
