Every lens has a minimum focusing distance. If you put an extension tube, between the lens and the camera body, the minimum focusing distance becomes smaller. The greater the focal length of the extension tube, the closer you can get. This is perfect for macro photography or for creating close-ups.

Caruba Extension Tube Set Sony E / FE

The Caruba Extension Tube set for Sony consists of two extension tubes that can be used separately, or combined. The extension tubes have no optical elements, which makes it possible to photograph subjects from a closer distance, without any loss of image quality.

The extension tubes have a chrome metal mount and are compatible with Sony E-mount APS-C lenses and Sony FE full frame lenses. Features like auto focus and TTL light metering continue to work as usual. However, it is recommended to focus manually, as the depth of field is very tight when it comes to macro photography. The easiest way is to set the focus to the minimum focus distance, and then move the camera back and forth relative to the subject.

How does a extension tube work?

A extension tube increases the distance between the image sensor of the camera and the rear lens of the lens. This shortens the focusing distance of the lens, making it possible to focus closer on the subject. As a result, the subject is projected onto the sensor larger than it would be without a spacer ring. A extension tube thus increases the magnification factor of a lens.
